Interview with...

Living Light Photography

We spoke to Josh and Guils from Living Light Photography. Living Light Photography is an award-winning wedding, portrait and corporate photography studio. Based in Newcastle, they service clients from Sydney through the Central Coast, Newcastle, Port Stephens, the Hunter Valley and beyond. Here is what they had to say:

How would you define your style?
Fun, Fashion, Timeless.
We take a relaxed and fun approach to photography. We give you only as much direction as is necessary, don't interrupt those great moments, and firmly believe that the more fun you have the better the photos will be. We spend as much time as needed with you before your wedding to ensure we understand who you are as a couple and as individuals, which we can then express through our style.

What makes Living Light Photography different from your competitors?
There are lots of little things; but the big thing is we are continually working to improve and exceed our client's expectations and we don't see a time that will change. As soon as you think you're "good enough", it's all over, so we also put a lot of effort behind the scenes into further improving our photography skills.

One thing we really value is our pre-wedding photo session. It not only gives us the opportunity to hang out with our clients, but it is also a time to try things that aren't possible on the wedding day. I love it when my clients come with a vision of what they want, I love making that happen.

The other area that we've put work into this year is doing our own fine art printing in-studio. We feel that this has become of a lost art. While we do include your images on DVD, we think it's important to have prints and albums, as they are so much more emotionally engaging in this form.

What styles have you found to be popular at the moment?
Do you mean photos or fashion? Actually they go hand in hand - or at least we think they should! I'm loving the almost casual bridesmaid dresses in a still formal wedding. With the right pieces to pull it together it just looks smashing!

Do you offer different levels of packages?
We sure do. We have our standard packages which suit most couples, however we are happy to tailor a package to suit a couple's specific requests. Our packages are packed with value, with no hidden costs or nasty surprises.

Do you have any Special Offers for couples wishing to book with you?
Absolutely. At the moment we are celebrating the launch of our new website, and that we have just started to print our own canvas (and Josh says metal is next!). Our canvasses have the most lovely colours and the detail is amazing; another way to show off your beautiful photos. So, to celebrate we are including a 20x30 inch canvas (usually $600) with every album package booked before the end of this year. And if your wedding is within the next 6 months, we have some other great offers too.
